2014-05-16_M._Farah_028dMichele spent 17 years with the public schools before joining Oakland Schools in 2010 as a literacy consultant. Her work with the public schools consisted of teaching in the lower elementary grades, reading recovery and facilitating lab classrooms for upper elementary teachers in reading and writing workshop. In addition to her work in the public schools, Michele was also adjunct faculty at Oakland University teaching undergraduate and graduate level students in the area of emergent literacy and language arts.

Michele holds an undergraduate degree in special education in the area of learning disabilities. She received her masters of arts in reading and language arts and a doctoral degree in reading. Her dissertation was on the efficacy of oral reading fluency interventions on transitional readers.

In her role as an elementary literacy consultant, Michele brings her deep knowledge of literacy, literacy acquisition and classroom experience to support districts with their professional learning in the area of English Language Arts via on-site workshops, facilitating lab classrooms, consultations, coaching as well as professional learning at Oakland Schools.

Michele enjoys spending time with her two busy boys and her husband. She loves having free time to travel and watch the Michigan State Spartans.
